1. We've had 4 weeks of school. Big D is in Jr. High, Mc is a "Freshy" in High School and Lissa is a 5th grader. That right people...I said High School---get used to it! Sheesh just seeing your jaw hanging open makes me feel feeble (tee hee!)
2. Bear started school at our local elementary school. He went 8 days. Apparently it was traumatic for him (odd daily crying and exacerbated anxiety) Nonetheless, he is now happily home schooled with Talipop who is relieved to have one of her little bunch home with her. Ky started off as a first grader, was tested quite advanced and then they wanted to test him for 3rd grade, but mom insisted on NOT skipping more than one grade for the home school curriculum. So as of now he is soaring through the 2nd grade curriculum and happy.
3. Tali has had a horrible cough going on 5 weeks. Finally got a chest X-ray this week and turns out the poor little Chicky has Viral Pneumonia! That means---now we know she has pneumonia, but we don't do anything but drown her with liquids, prop her up at night and pray that her little body beats this thing. So we are doing all those things.
4. Kim has officially had one of the only adult fevers that she can remember-- 103. Miserable. Came on the heels of attending a Youth Council training up in the beautiful mountains of Payson. 8 days later---still achy and slightly ill. Bummer. Quite inconvenient.
5. Dallin auditioned for his school musical---Suessical and made it. He is a Who child and a cadet. I don't know how my tall son made it for a "child" of anything, but we're happy for him!
6. Lissa had a birthday shout hurray! That cute chick is 10! We had a party for her---decorated pillow cases, played that crazy chocolate bar game, made s'mores outside until a cloud burst and MAJOR lightning sent us scurrying inside to make indoor s'mores. (Mind you----this is 20 minutes after mom returned from the Youth Council trip with a big ol fever---luckily Dan had his act together and hosted marvelously!) Way to go Dad!
7. Home schooling---done it for 2 weeks and love it and hate it. (Hate it is kind of strong...) Meaning that it is soooooo great for teaching your children, but NOW who is going to do everything that I was doing before---like grocery shop, organize lives, set up for soccer and etc...?
8. Speaking of soccer, it starts this week. Kim is coaching Lissa's team again, Bear is signed up and Dallin is now trained to be a referee.
9. Mc is a babysitting queen. It took awhile for her popularity to catch on, but we ran around little magnets this summer to promote her terrific finesse with children---and sure enough---now she is in high demand. I guess it pays to advertise. Dan matches what the kids deposit in the bank and she is making bank! She also has taught her first couple of beginning piano lessons.
10. We just watched one of our Family Reunion videos from this summer and Tali said "I want to have another reunion this week!" Can you blame a 4 year old for wanting to frolic with all 50 of her cousins again???
11. Dan is a great dad and terrific hubby---not new, but needing to be said!
12. I have wiped down every surface with anti-bac wipes (twice!), changed all the linens multiple times this week, run numerous loads of laundry on "sanitizing" cycle and done my best to hope that we keep from spreading the icky virus around the peeps in our house. I'll let you know how we fare.
PS. When I ran to Walgreens to pick up new meds for the cupboard (That was mostly expired) the lady there said "Would you like to get a flu shot today?" Ha!

Hey, you better get better fast.....you know the drill, sleep, sleep, sleep, water, water, water........:)like you ever sleep!!! And poor Pop...best you guys recover before we come...y'know how bad seniors are when they get sick!!!
