When a worthy young man turns 12, he has the privilege of receiving the power to perform special ordinances and service for others. This is referred to as the Aaronic Priesthood. Well, as Dallin turned 12, and he is valiant and worthy, he was ordained to the office of a deacon. Happily his birthday is in November, and many of his uncles and one of his grandfather's was able to be there
close to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
He is pictured here with the men in his ordaining circle, including: Grandpa Green, Uncle Kerry, Uncle Kendall, Dan, Bishop Scott Simons, Uncle Rick and Uncle Kevin.
We had a shin dig in the morning before church including all the visiting family and locals that were here with Pumpkin Wheat waffles (a total favorite of mine--you can google that recipe--easy in the blender--delightful and so yummy) covered in whip cream and syrup.
Dallin memorized "The Duties of the Aaronic Priesthood" and said them in front of his new Deacon class (to the chagrin of his friends---who promptly declared him an over achiever) But that truly is our Dallin. He never ceases to amaze us with his keen mind and ever increasing vocabulary, but more importantly his stalwart and zealous spirit. I learn a lot from that kid! I was privately so serenely happy as I watched him pass the sacrament for the first time. I love that he took his role solemnly and walked with confidence.
