Catalyst

Perhaps I am slow, but I am just adding 2 and 2 and the answer seems to be 4. I know that I have added these numbers before, but it seems to be a different problem now---and I am just examining the number 4 a little closer.

Really, I have discovered that DEADLINES are the catalyst to creativity. Maybe people with a more open schedule do not find that to be the case, but it is what I have discovered. The majority of directing/play writing/creative writing that I have done in the past several years have been upon request or calling. I really enjoy directing (pa-lease I do it on a smaller scale EVERYDAY!---although the actors are not always cooperative and don't always see the big picture in my head---SIGH!)

Nonetheless, when I write down all the big plans I still have for the moments left in my life they include perhaps several lifetimes worth of activity. I'm okay with that---sometimes I can be quite the efficient worker.
During these years full of pregnancy, nursing and nurturing small kiddos free time is at a premium. Let's say 2+2=4 is similar to this life equation: When you have small children this is equal to no extra/free time. So we got it, the big ol' magical list has to wait.
However, when asked to write and direct a show (say a roadshow) Somehow I squeeze the day a little more vigorously and out come out enough moments to do it.
So I ask you---then isn't the Deadline the key? Those moments are there---it's a matter of honing them. Can a person really use all 24 hours in a day???
Can't I set deadlines for myself? Can't I make a deal with my mattress that it will be satisfied with 5 or 6 hours instead of 6.5 or 7? Apparently Sheri Dew did that. She slept for only 4.5 hours a night for the months that she was working on her biography of President Hinckley.
I am just saying---we set the limits. What if I do want to do more? I think I need a creativity deadline.

That's way too deep for me to figure out. Alls I know is that you NEED to get more sleep--that's the healthy way. But 20 years from now, a lot of those things you think are at the top of the list, suddenly don't mean much anymore!!! Sleep girlfriend, sleep!!! It's wonderful!!!

I need deadlines. I totally understand what you're saying.

Oh, and our adventure is currently under evaluation. Say a prayer for us that it all works out!!
